It's another year and another round of the AP Art course, but this time I'm doing the drawing portfolio. For my concentration, I plan to investigate the way nature has created design structures within food by experimenting with surface. Natural design structures constantly surround our everyday lives, thus I am trying to maximize the composition to further my exploration of food.Through my pieces I want the viewers to see the emerging structures and how appealing food is to humans.
I love how you handled the banana Sydney, really well done! I've been trying to brainstorm what you could do with the background and I'm having a hard time because I like how its simplicity contrasts with the lines of the banana... I dunno, this is pretty tricky stuff. Maybe you could faintly citrasolv or write recipes using bananas into the background? Or you could subtly try to tie in the origins of the fruit, add a little history, you know. If I think of anything else I'll get back to you! I'm so excited to see where you continue with this concentration (I love food too).
ReplyDeleteExcellent! I agree with Georgia's statement above and I think it goes back to what we talked about in class....preparing your surface in an interesting way by watercoloring, collaging, citra-solving, writing, etc. and then developing your imagery on top of it. This will add a certain amount of depth to your work that I think you are looking for.
