I absolutely love this one; it's one of my favorites that you have made so far. I love the loose way you painted the pomegranate seeds, especially the white highlights. I also like the dots in the space between the segments of fruit. I do think you made the right decision to zoom in closer; I liked the other one, but I think you are right that this goes better with the other ones. I think your contrast is excellent and the radial structure is really good, too.
Now that's contrast! without a shadow of a doubt zooming in on your chosen food is your greatest strength. The highlights on the seeds make the light source feel like it's coming from the center, in which case you might want to add a light texture to your background.(dabbing it with a sponge perhaps)
Sydney- You have a great start to this piece! My one suggestion is to develop the background as fully as the object. Perhaps add a texture as Sarah suggested above and/or developing your stippling with greater density and color development so that the background and foreground are more unified.
